This particular apparatus is the latest in a series of identical machines supplied to numerous customers worldwide who are performing similar testing activities.<\/p>\n<p>The skid-based, electric motor-driven instrument is capable of speeds up to 40,000 rpm under the precise control of a direct torque control-based drive system. The vacuum chamber has a diameter of some 450 mm and is fitted with a containment ring and lid locks to ensure absolute safety in case of a test article bursting.<\/p>\n<p>After extensive factory acceptance tests at Barbour Stockwell in Boston, Massachusetts, the machine was shipped to the customer in Europe, where it was installed within weeks.
